I Have A Son...

who:

-wears a hooded, zip up fleece as a "coat" when the thermometer downtown is showing 26 degreees
-hates to wear long sleeve t-shirts unless there is a short sleeve shirt on top of it
-has sensory issues (newly discovered and serious, not a joke) with certain fabrics - like nylon shoe strings
-has an attitude that sucks, most of the time
-will be 8 in April, so...he is still only 7
-thinks he is all-knowing at this wise old age
-is so much fun to be around when he doesn't have an attitude or think he knows it all
-so easily influenced by his friends and what he thinks their opinion of his long sleeve shirt might be (do 7 & 8 year old boys really look at what each other is wearing)
-thinks that an Auburn football jersey can be worn to any event on any occassion
-does not like "collar shirts" - aka golf type, polo type shirt
-is deep, belly laugh kind of hilarious - especially when he has a deep belly laugh
-is very concerned about his weight (thanks Artisha)
-is 7 years and 9 months old...combined with the previous statement, makes me sad
-folded laundry for the first time yesterday, not without a fight
-does not have a pretty face when he balls up his fists by his side in rebellion
-likes to brush his hair straight forward, onto his forehead
-can and did pack his own lunch for school

I have a son who has a mom, that:

-picks her battles
-reminds him that he will freeze with these temperatures
-got a long sleeve t-shirt out for him and encouraged him to NOT wear his Opelika swim dogs t-shirt over the long sleeve (he actually bought into it)
-helps him with his hair, in passing of course
-encourages him to hold his breath and tie his shoes quickly so he won't have chill bumps for long -reminds him that he is only 7 years, 9 months and I am much wiser at my wise old age
-loves to laugh with her hilarious son
-loves watching him play with his younger sister - when they are playing nicely
-is reminded of her own attitude that sucked when she was growing up (my poor mother, rest her soul)
-tells herself that this wonderful boy is herself walking around at this age, 29 years later
-got a parking place in the front of her building this morning, even after having morning drop off duty b/c his dad is out of town.
-chose the battle over laundy and won...

It will be a good day. Any takers who want to guess how our life is these days? :-)
I have a son...and I love him!

Getting Closer to the Present (time, not gift, ha ha) - December

Let's see.....when I think of December, of course Christmas comes to mind. We were busy, but not with so many parties. Just busy.
A lot happened in December. Since I really do not like the way you upload photos to a blogger blog, I am not sure how many photos I will post. I think I might just share a link to the albums on Facebook or Shutterfly - depending on where they are stored. I like that idea.
One of the first Christmas events for us was the parade in our home-town. I have said this before, probably on Facebook, that this parade is nothing like the one we went to growing up. I say "we" because Mark and I grew up in the same town and went to the same candy-throwin' parade each year. However, this is how things roll at our evening Christmas parade. I have to admit it is so much calmer. Also, I am not as worried about a child being run over by a parade float.
Moving on. The hanging of the greens service shows up next in my chronological list of photos. I don't have permission from all of the parents to share photos on the internet, so I won't post the entire album. Here are a few from that evening...

Remember waaayyyy back in November when I said that I liked to cook meals - especially large meals. I had the priviledge of preparing a meal for the college students of our church. It was so much fun working with Ruth on this. There are many photos, taken by Jason Summers. I can't remember if they are on Facebook or not. So many of them though.
There was a teddy bear tea that E and I went to. We went along with some friends. Following this there were Christmas card photo attempts, school Christmas programs, and then our trip to Mobile (aka Saraland). Not everyone knows where Saraland is, but most know where Mobile is. Anyway...the circus trip to Mobile was the weekend before Christmas. We left on Saturday morning with the Saraland Christmas parade being our first venue. Then to my dads, his mother's house, then Sunday lunch at Mark's mom's, then Sunday evening with my mother's mom and my siblings/family. We left Sunday evening for the beach. Our friends the Donald's invited us back to spend a couple of days there. On Monday I had the wonderful chance to have lunch with dear friends from my school days. Sonda and Danielle. So much fun. Sonda's daughter, Logan, joined us for lunch too. They (Sonda and Danielle) have had exciting things happening in their lives this year. Such a fun time spent with them.
After our trip south, we came back home for Christmas at home. The kids had a great Christmas. We all received a Wii from Santa. We have had a fun time playing with it since that morning. After a few days at home, we were ready to go again. The four of us along with Mark's mom headed out early Sunday morning for Williamsburg, VA. Our two kiddos seem to travel really well. Most of the time. We left at 5 am or a little after. We enjoyed 3 full days there. The trip home was a little longer. More potty breaks, stopped for lunch and dinner (Varsity in Atlanta for dinner - woo hoo). The weather wasn't so nice either. Rain and fog. We made it safely home. That was on New Years Eve. B stayed up to see the ball drop on TV. He wasn't really impressed. Unless you are actually in Times Square, is it really that impressive?
Now that you have read (if you really have) an account of Oct - Dec 2009, I will stop posting for today. I really wanted to chronicle this for us. I wanted this blog to be some kind (even lacking my ability to "say" what I want to say) of journal for us. At least I have somewhat thrown together the last 3 months.
Maybe with more diligent blogging - I will have deeper thoughts. I may actually start another blog that is just for my own history and past. Some of the things - other than the death of my mother - that shaped me to be who I am today. Once I do that I have to be ready to see and face those skeletons.
Well, happy 2010. A great year for us thus far. I hope it has been for your & yours too.

What November held for us...

It is funny. I must look at the photos to remember what happened. Thankfully, I have A LOT of photos to go through. I will spare many of the details. I LOVE cooking and having people visit in our home. I especially like making a large meal, like the ones normally served on Thanksgiving. I have to admit something about this year though. E's daycare class took canned goods to our Community Market. This market is for those who qualify to receive a certain amount of food amount. After this field trip, I left the market and ventured out to purchase what I needed for our meal. I went to 4 stores, yes FOUR. I was looking for fresh herbs - sage, thyme, oregano and rosemary. So, when I couldn't find it at one place, I went to 3 others. It was crazy for me to do this. When I left the 4th retail store, I decided to stop at a local nursery that has recently opened a market. They didn't have what I wanted either, so I just bought sage plants. I did. JUST for a meal. I dont' know at what point it hit me. I had just driven all over our town - not terribly big, but still - looking for herbs and spices. There are MANY who wouldn't eat a special meal on Thursday of that week. Some wouldn't eat a meal at all. And I drove around looking for herbs and spices. It still makes me a little sick to think that I did that. So, the herbs and spices were used and yes, they tasted good. Here is what part of them were used for.

Well, it looks like Thanksgiving is all that we did in the month of November. I know that isn't the case, but I do have photos of that day. This year for Thanksgiving, we had friends and family with us for that day. Mark's mom was here with us. I was happy that my cousin, Alison, her husband and son were here. They have only been to our house a couple of times now. Once in Atlanta, once in Opelika, one other time in Auburn, and this past November. Alison and I were born 4 days apart. Our mothers were sisters. We were close growing up. I love her! She brought me a fun gift - pilgrim salt and pepper shakers! I love them too!! The Cannon family joined us for lunch too - minus their oldest daughter who was with their family that weekend. I was thankful they spent the day with us. Photos are mostly of the guys playing football that day. The power went off right as lunch was ready. We ate lunch with just daylight. It was nice. There was a china plate and a crystal goblet broken. However, I have never minded if something like that is broken, really. Alison was worried. It is hard to convince someone who has just broken your china and crystal that it really ok. It was and it is, OK.

B & Daniel

B and Ian

B & Cole...my cousin's son

The day after Thanksgiving, you know...Black Friday....my mother in law and I decided we would venture out shopping. This was my first Black Friday experience. I can't remember how early, but we were up early. I had programmed the coffee pot the night before, just to make things a little easier. It was a productive morning though.

On the Saturday following Thanksgiving, there was a football game played. A big game for our state. The Iron Bowl. Mark and B went to the game - the clothing B wears throughout the photos on this blog clearly shows who our family pulls for in this game. E & I stayed at home that Saturday and put up our artificial Christmas tree. That evening, after the loss our team suffered, we all decorated the tree. Here are some photos of our ornaments . Each (well most) of them have a special story to go along with it. Some of them are just ornaments. This year I seemed a little more sentimental about them. I even shed a tear or two while unwrapping them. I love decorating the Christmas tree and all of the white lights. The kids wanted multi-color lights this year. I don't think I can. I didn't this year and I am not sure that I will be able to use them. I don't know why...just not my lights for Christmas. Maybe the mini white lights and the large "old-time" large bulbs too? hmmm...not sure.

So, there you have the month of November.

October...

Fall is one of my favorite times of the year - spring being the other one. So, I love October. I also turned 36 in October this past year. Mark likes to remind me that I am on the other side of the half-way point of my 30's. While he is still on the other side. Three more months and he will be mid-way to 40. Anyway...fun times in October...

Flag Football:
Not the best photos...but you get the idea

Next up...tailgating at B's school. Most all schools (I think) in this town have a tailgating day. If you don't live in a university town with a football team, this sounds really ridiculous. Just a day to party at school. The toilet paper is an Auburn thing.

E learned to tie her shoes!!!

Pumpkin Carving....and Halloween.........

Our October ended with a stomach virus. E had it first and B rounded it out. He was sick for longer than the rest of us. He went to one house to trick or treat, thinking he felt better and could go. That wasn't the case. In our town, we celebrated Halloween Thursday before Halloween - which fell on a Saturday this past year. Why you might ask? Well in a town where football is really important - there was a high school game on Friday night and the local university played on Saturday. So, Thursday it was. Strange but it worked.

Playing Catch Up

I am not really sure how to catch up for so much time lost on my blog. I thought about photos from each month - October up until now. That may be what I do. Will depend on the time I have.

Not too many updates on us. We still do the same thing day in and day out. I still wish I had a 24/7 audio/video recorder of our children. So many funny things that they say and do. By the time I get to blogging ( 4 months later) I have forgotten most of it. We are blessed, very blessed. Not a big reason why, we just are. When I stop and think of how healthy we have been and are, we have a warm house, we all seem to love each other on most days...things are good and we shouldn't complain. Although, we have complaints. You know, like..."work is awful" - however, grateful for a job!

So, I may try to chronicle the last 4 months with photos that I have taken. That might be the easiest way to do it.

One other thing. I have found a great blog. It consumed a large chunk of my time over the weekend. I find it so interesting to hear and read about other people's lives and how they live. I am sure most of the population already knows about The Pioneer Woman (she has something like 38K fans on Facebook). I on the other hand am a new fan of hers. If you have hours to spend on this kind of thing and enjoy reading blogs, go for it.

A Day at Home

I wasn't feeling well yesterday, so I stayed at home. And for the most part, spent the day in the bed. I really thought that I was getting the flu again. Memories of February 2008 clouded my mind as I drifted to sleep on and off throughout the day. Surely this wasn't going to be the case. Can I really get the flu again? I was supposed to go get my flu shot yesterday and just didn't feel up to it. There are more clinics scheduled next week. Our insurance covers the vaccine 100% for all of us which is really nice. I am very thankful for the insurance that we have here. By late evening, I could tell that I was feeling much better. A 24 hour virus of some kind? Not sure, but so thankful that I didn't run a fever, the aches went away, and that I am not in the bed today. VERY thankful.

While spending so much time resting yesterday, I happened upon some new blogs that I found to be interesting reading. I have added them to the sidebar, but thought I would post them in a blog to maybe allow the "new" ones to jump out to anyone who may stumble by this post. Who knows, someone may be looking for a new party/entertaining/fun blog to spend hours reading when they don't really have the time to do that. The only reason I did yesterday was because I was too tired to get out of the bed to anything else.

Piece of Cake Parties

Your Home Based Mom

Tangarang

These are just 3 of the ones that I really like. I spent the most time perusing these 3 yesterday. There are so many interesting blogs out there in the blogging world. I am really surprised at how much information is floating around the www.

My last post is dated July 14, 2009. It is now August 19, 2009...too far gone? Have I neglected my blog for too long that a post now would not be fun? No, I am still in the blogging world. However, my real world has been very busy. I thought one thing to do would be to recap our summer - really it was B's summer.

We planned out most of his summer back in the winter months, January or February in these parts. So, we knew most of what he would be doing with a few gaps to be filled in as the summer approached. I have posted about some of his adventures already, but will include them here as well. So, our summer went something like this...

Saturday, May 23, late afternoon...Mark and B loaded the last of their things into the 'white car'. And so, began their adventure to Washington DC. It was raining that afternoon and somewhere along the way, the A/C in the 'white car' decided to no longer blow cold air. A hot humid (100% - remember it was raining) summer day in a car with no air - AND no windows to roll down unless you want to get wet. They drove a long way, stayed the night somewhere between here and there. Next stop, DC. I really wish a travel journal had been kept of this trip by the two traveling. I think it would have made for a very entertaining read. Actually, a video or audio recording would have been great. For the next week - these two visited the sites of DC, played dominos over pizza for late night dinners, watched the Incredible Hulk (1970's episodes) for even later entertainment, and had a most wonderful time.

Sunday, May 24, was a very exciting day for me & E back at home. We had the pleasure of having A & O over to our house for a sleepover. This was due to the arrival of their baby sister EK. We anxiously awaited the phone call to let us know she was really on her way. The four of us were enjoying our Cheeburger Cheeburger dinner when we received the call that this was the real deal. EK was on her way into the world.

The following week, first full week of June, I was off with B. I couldn't compete with DC, so we stayed local and just hung out here. Mid week we went to a Braves baseball game...which was rained out. This was quite an experience. Really. They didn't call the game until very late into the night. We stayed there until this happened. Long night in the rain, long drive home, make up game to be announced at a later day. We ended up returning to Atlanta on the 22nd for the make-up game. B & T really enjoyed it and were more attentive to the game than I thought they would be.

Swim team and a kick-ball game were enjoyed too. Mark thought it would be fun to get our friends together for a parent/kids kickball game. AND it was a lot of fun. In addition to me & Mark taking time off from work to spend with B this summer, he stayed with Mrs. Helen a lot. He and his friend S enjoy their time together. I think (at least I hope) it makes for a more entertaining summer for Helen too. Maybe it keeps S occupied for some time- having B there to play. I hope! B also attended Presbyterian, Catholic & Baptist VBS this summer. We want him to be well rounded! :) He enjoyed all 3!! Not that I ever doubted that he would. He was very interested in what a Catholic was and what it meant. I told him that Mrs. Helen would have to help him out on that end. I was raised Southern Baptist, have strayed from my upbringing and now only consider myself a Baptist. Shameful, I know....but so much happier and ok with the world where I am now. Ok, I digress on the Baptist thing.

Our family also took in a night of camping just across the state line in Pine Mountain, GA. It was alot of fun! However, it isn't a good thing to have kids who wake up early in a camp ground when there isn't much to do at this particular camp ground in the early morning hours. So, we packed up camp and headed home - VERY early. Mark and I were able to get a LONG morning nap in while our children's brains got closer to resembling play doh from their TV time.

There was one week that Mark and I took off together for a "family" vacation. We left on June 28 (right after VBS at our church) to head out of town. We were on our way to Tennessee. Great journey there until we reached the tip of Georgia...STORMS. Trees falling into the interstate, the works. Never seen such a storm while on the road and hope that I never experience this again. We made it though, safely. The four of us were vacationing with Mark's sister, Angie & her family - Hunter (husband) and Ryan (son). Tubing, fishing, bathing in the river due to sulfur water, Dollywood Splash Park, did I mention swimming in the river? SO MUCH FUN! We had a great time. We stayed in a river house that belongs to Mark's cousin's parents (by marriage kind of thing). I have really enjoyed getting to know Shelly as we planned the trip and while we were there. She took a lot of time to help us plan and to get around while we were there. THANKS Shelly & Keith!!!

And so, we rolled on into July. The summer was flying by so quickly. I knew school would start before I knew it. A summer science camp, two weeks at the parks & recreation camp and time down south...it would happen before we could stop long enough to think about it. The last trip, hoorah for me & the kids was time in Point Clear. The Britnell's met us down there. Of course, we had a great time. It is an almost magical place. I think it is because I am near Mobile - the draping oak trees, the bay breeze, the smell of the bay, sand, THICK humidity, seafood - close enough to experience the fun things about this place, yet far enough away to enjoy the experience. There I said it. If you don't know 'what' I just said, dont' worry about it... :) To round out this final week of summer for me, I spent a girls weekend in B'ham with old friends that I haven't seen in years - about 15 years. Man, I am getting old. We gathered at Ross Bridge in B'ham and had a reunion of sorts. What a great time we had together.

B's last week of summer was spent with Mark off for his final week off. For them, it was hanging out in town and playing with friends.

Our big guy began 2nd grade on Monday the 10th. He loves his teacher and is beginning to show excitement over reading again. Which makes me very happy.

Not a very exciting post, just a log - more for me - of things we did this summer. I am ready for fall and have a day at the lake coming up this weekend. Then school activities will take up our time. Before we know it, it will be time to head out to pumpkin patches and shopping for turkey time!

Kelly Corrigan

I was introduced to her (online, not in person) today. I received an e-mail with a link to a youtube video. You can see it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_4qwVLqt9Q . So, now I have gone to her website, read portions of her blog, and intend to go out and buy her book. So, just thought I would share this with anyone who may happen by my blog and see this. I will post about the book when I am done.

Caffeine, Sodium and All Things about BP

So, what do I mean by BP? Well, that would be blood pressure. Since having E, my BP has been borderline high and hasn't really come down on its own. So, 4 years later and an annual visit to the dr., it is even higher. I am now monitoring it daily, and will go on meds if it doesn't come down with exercise and diet. I KNOW that making changes will impact not only my BP, but other ailments along the way. I could stand to lose a lot of weight - like 40-50 lbs, but will start with a smaller goal. Let's start with 5 or 10 and go from there. All of the time, knowing that it needs to be more. Small steps. When I told the dr. that I didn't want to be on high blood pressure meds at 35 years old, he then replied "so you would rather have Mark go home and tell your two children that their mom has had a stroke?!" OK, so he played the children card with me and it worked. I do NOT want to take meds at 35 but even more, I do NOT want to have a stroke. So, I need to work hard to get it lower! Much lower - along with my weight. Two mornings now....and it is not down. I keep telling myself that this is only day 2 of watching it and trying to make changes, right? Only day 2.

Today I am drinking decaffeinated coffee. That is a big deal. And do you know how much sodium is in food? Prepared food, I guess I should say. A LOT!

Old Times and Holiday Decorations

I had such a great evening catching up with a friend. Wendy & I were co-counselors in Unit A4. Cook Springs, Alabama - Alabama's WMU GA & Acteen camp. That was in 1994. We couldn't remember the last time that we had seen one another. It has been at least 12 years - at least. It was fun talking about camp and catching up with where we have been and where we are now. Two kids later for both of us. It was just a fun time for me to have dinner with her. I wish I had taken a photo and could have posted it here. We were the two women enjoying conversation with loud laughter from time to time...such fun.

After dinner, I decided to run into Hobby Lobby to get some paper that I needed to pick up. I rushed through the "holiday" or "seasonal" section of the store. The first aisle that I could see from the door was adorned with red, white and blue. Not surprising, as the 4th of July is just around the corner - right? One more aisle and I am past the VBS foam crafts. The next aisle is what took my completely by surprise - FALL DECORATIONS!!!!!! Orange & brown artificial flowers, leaf garland, pumpkins, harvest items!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then I made my way past the 80% home accent section - which by the way, I need to go back to. I didn't have time to look a lot tonight. Once past this area, I was again in a "seasonal" area that was Garden. Not too scary, right? WRONG!!! Only clearance items and then...I don't even know if I can put it here....it really couldn't have been what I saw with my eyes. CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am NOT kidding, Christmas decorations, wreaths, garland, balls, foam crafts, and various other items are already on the shelves of Hobby Lobby for you to purchase. Really?!? It is June 15th isn't it? It was 100 degrees here today - HOT, HUMID, Alabama day in June. How can one wrap their mind around Christmas when they are just trying to keep up in this heat? Well, it is there. If you want to take yourself to a place that gets you in the Christmas spirit, go to Hobby Lobby. I do not normally decorate our house for Independence Day. I am considering it this year though. Just to buy something from the filled shelves and to NOT buy something for November or December occassions. As you can tell, I am taken aback by the things I witnessed tonight. I finally made my way to the paper aisle - my original destination. At 7:45 pm someone announced that the store would be closing in 15 minutes "please make your final selection and find your way to the register". So, I found the cardstock and made my way to the front - via a different route. I didn't want to see fall foliage and Christmas again - not yet...it is too early.

Summer So Far

As I type this post, I am exhausted. Really exhausted. Which is a good thing, I guess. We have played hard, been swimming a lot, and traveled many miles (Mark and B). In the first two and a half weeks of summer, we have been busy. I love being busy and having things to do, places to go, laughter from my children to hear and smiles to see. But, I think the body needs rest too. This weekend will bring much needed rest for the family. I am sure the smells of chlorine will fill my nose at some point, but not at the extent that it has this past week. I hope that we all sleep until noon, stay in our pjs most of the day, and eat pancakes at 12:30 for brunch on Saturday. With my early risers (no matter how tired they are, nor how late they go to bed) this will most likely not be the case. Below is a summary (in photos) of what we have done so far this summer. It has been great fun so far. We have spent some wonderful time with such great friends!

My kids

I have had a wonderful weekend with my family. We went to the beach with friends of ours, the Donalds. It is lovely...they have a son who is B's age and a daughter who is E's age. They all four play well together, so it makes for a nice time when we are with them. We got to the beach Friday evening and spent a wonderful day in the sand yesterday. We left this morning for Mobile to have lunch with Mark's mom & his sister's family. It was very yummy!! Then we hit the road for the 3 hour ride home. Always glad to be home. After unpacking, putting things away and beginning the laundry, things slowed down. The four of us went to Olive Garden for dinner, my choice, and it was nice. The kids were behaved and the food was very good.

Sometimes, it is still strange to think that I am a mom. Me? Yes, me, I am a mom. How could this amazing job have been given to me? It was and I am. Right now, I am sitting on the landing at the top of our stairs which is in between the kids' rooms. While I love hearing them talk and ask questions, this is when they ask funny things and they should be going to sleep. This was our most recent conversation tonight while I am sitting here:

B: "Mom, what is Noah's last name?"
Mom: "Noah who? Noah in the Bible?"
B: "Yes, I don't think we know another Noah do we?"
Mom: "No, but we don't know his last name. So, GO TO...."

We were interrupted by:
E: "Mom, what is 5 +5?"
Mom: "10 E, you really need to get quiet and GO TO..."
B: "Do I hear dad downstairs?"
Mom: "Yes, putting the groceries away, GO TO...."
E: "Mom, what is charcoal?"
B: "It goes in a grill!!!!" (LOUD)
E: "WHAT?"
B: "Mom, how is charcoal dangerous?"
Mom: "You guys need to go to SLEEP!"
B: "But you told me it is dangerous"
Mom: "Yes, and now is not the time to talk about the dangers of charcoal"
E: "My walls are green and Maddy's, at Mrs. Anitra's house, her walls and her stuff is green too. Not her toys and not her lamp though"
E: "I saw an elephant that was really cute"
Mom: "GO TO SLEEP!!!"

I have gotten to where I do not normally sit out here, but I like to hear them settle down and listen to them sleep. Tonight is a night I want to hear them. Now she won't stop talking, so I guess I need to go downstairs to keep her from talking. In the last few minutes, B has fallen asleep.

While the job of being a mom is more than a challenge some days, I do love it. I love these two more than I could have ever imagined loving anyone - much less two of them!

Sunday, April 19, 2009

EDIT: I started writing this post on Sunday, April 19th...

Three hours in a car, by myself, music up loud, and yes - me siging along. Not much else like it. You know the feeling....alone, singing songs you love, no one can hear you, so you sing as loud as you can, you don't care that the cars passing you (going at least 80 mph) can see you singing. Mark suggested that I drive the car home and the kids rode with him in the van - with a/c. Not having a/c wasn't an issue at all for me driving home. Window rolled down, singing to the top of my lungs, who cares about a/c.

We have been in Mobile since Wednesday evening. Well, Mark has been there since last Monday, the 13th. The kids & I drove down after school was out on Wednesday. We buried Mark's dad Friday afternoon. We visited with his family, that we haven't seen in some time. Unfortunately, this happens. You know the scene. Family members that you never talk to or see and then you are visiting with them at an unfortunate gathering of sorts. Mark's words over the course of last week were "the only thing worse than a death is attending a funeral with those left behind." I love this, very true. These are the things I wish I could wrap my mind around and make sense out of them. There are so many mysteries to the past that would answer so many questions, yet we do not ask these questions. Why not? Wouldn't life make SO much more sense if we knew what happened that formed/paved the way for what is happening now? We have family members who visit the town we live in - frequently, from what I understand - and we never hear from them. Not that we need to see or hear from someone EVERY time they visit our little part of this very big world, BUT so very strange that we could be tailgating right next to family and not know it until plates were prepared and food was being consumed. My dear husband said that he just tries not to think about it. Just the way it has always been, but I wonder if that is the case. My family just never comes this way at all anymore. ha ha So, no worries of running into any of them at the grocery on the weekend. I think I must just be nosey...wanting to know what all happened in the past to make things the way they are now with many family members - not just Mark's family, but mine as well. I think there are many secrets in this world of ours.

Mark has had a busy week since returning from Mobile. He said last night, that the stress of the last several weeks is pressing down on his shoulders. He is on his way out of town this morning for several days. I know it won't happen, but maybe some rest can be found for him while he is on this leg of his journey. Mark's mother will be here this weekend with me & the kids. I think we will go to a gathering in our city on Saturday morning. I want to work in the yard some this weekend too. I hope to get a lot done (and I need to see about making some curtains for a friend! I must talk to her about it this weekend!). We will see what all I get done..
