Dead Animal

in the garage....we found it yesterday....the stench led us to it.

Oh my. An image that will last years in my mind. Will not go away any time soon. Turns out it was "part" of a squirrel - not an entire squirrel. We think the neighborhood cat, Juno, decided to leave us a 'gift' of sorts. Well, just wish Juno had left it more visible so that it could have been disposed of. Prior. To. The. Maggots. Yes, that is terrible. In our garage. With our things.

Mark disposed of it late last night when he got home. Not without much drama, but I would have been worse. Thanks Juno. Next time just sleep in the driveway, enjoy the afternoon sun, and deliver your gifts to your rightful owner who also feeds you - TWO doors down.

Ready for Summer

This time of year always seems busy. Things with the kids at school, faculty members leaving town for a while, just busy in general. I am looking forward to summer. Yes, I will still have work to go to. Kids will still get up early to get to their respective places, but it will be summer. Less of a schedule. No summer sports this year - don't think. I am ready for school to end. I am ready for baseball to end. I don't normally feel this way. Just do this year. I am off the week they get out of school through Memorial Day. The month of June is a little tricky for where B will go (THANKS Helen!!!). Lizzie will continue in daycare through the end of June (unless I can come up with something creative on that front too!). I am then off the first week of July. Beginning July 2nd, our family will take up residence (temporary) in Fairhope, AL. We are renting a cottage from the 2nd until the 17th. Mark is off the 2nd, 3rd AND 4th week of July. He is an amazing dad. He has been gone a lot this semester - academic year, really. So, he requested time off in the summer to spend with the kids. The first week of August I am off, and then the kids start school on Tues of the 2nd week. I am really looking forward to them spending a large part of their summer with us.

The rest of May will be busy for us as we wind down the school year. It is all a lot of fun though. The backyard pool has now been inflated and filled with water. We hope the sun heats it up today and we will cool off there this afternoon after school.
